Posture Correction Exercises for Desk Workers

Long hours at a screen quietly overload the neck, shoulders and lower back — these exercises help undo the damage.
Sitting for long hours rounds the shoulders forward, weakens the muscles between the shoulder blades, and tightens the chest and hip muscles — a pattern that drives a lot of the neck, shoulder and lower back pain we see every day.
Daily posture reset routine
- Wall angels: rebuild shoulder blade control and open the chest
- Seated rows with a band: strengthen the mid-back muscles that pull shoulders back
- Hip flexor stretch: counters tightness from prolonged sitting
- Glute bridges: reactivate the glutes, which "switch off" with too much sitting
- Every-30-minutes rule: stand, walk, and reset your posture at least once every half hour
Small, consistent changes — an ergonomic chair height, a screen at eye level, and this daily routine — prevent the majority of desk-related pain we treat in the clinic.
