Plantar Fasciitis: Why That First Morning Step Hurts So Much
August 30, 2026 · 4 min read · by Shadab Khan · 32
Sharp heel pain with the first steps in the morning is the classic sign of plantar fasciitis — here's the physiotherapy fix.
Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the thick band of tissue (the plantar fascia) that runs along the bottom of the foot. It's one of the most common causes of heel pain, especially first thing in the morning.
How we treat it
- LASER or ultrasound therapy to reduce inflammation in the fascia
- Calf and plantar fascia stretching program
- Foot and ankle strengthening to correct underlying mechanics
- Footwear and arch-support guidance
With a consistent stretching and strengthening routine, most patients see major improvement within 4-6 weeks — much faster than waiting it out alone.
